Prop 65 – California
California residents will find Prop 65 warnings are in the now mandatory new warning format, specifically calling out Isobutyl Nitrite. To be in compliance the warning message must mention the chemical in question ( Isobutyl Nitrite) , potential harm ( Cancer ) and the revised website www.P65Warnings.ca.gov All of those elements are present, and are on every page.
What is Proposition 65
Prop 65 required warnings to Californians about exposures to chemicals that cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. When chemicals are in the products that Californians purchase, prop 65 enables Californians to make informed decisions about their exposures to these chemicals. Proposition 65 also prohibits California businesses from knowingly discharging significant amounts of listed chemicals into sources of drinking water. This is why the bill is also known as the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 Proposition 65 requires California to publish a list of chemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. This list, which must be updated at least once a year, has grown to include approximately 900 chemicals since it was first published in 1987.
